A WEEKEND IN DENVER
If you are ever in Denver and you're wondering what you should do, I'm your girl. At the beginning of this year, my older brother moved to Denver for work and has loved it ever since. He thinks it is such a great place for young professionals and is a very lively town.
I have gone to visit him many times and have never found myself bored twiddling my thumbs. I have made a "Weekend Schedule" that you can follow for a fun-filled weekend in the city!
Friday Afternoon:
Alright, you've landed in the city and first things first, check out the spooky airport and all of its quirks. It's very eerie if you read about all of the conspiracies that the airport has to offer from the "New Order" murals to the red eyes of the demonic horse. Here is a link to gain some knowledge.
Okay, next step is checking into your hotel and what's better than staying in The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa located in the heart of Denver. Open since August 1892, this hotel is one of a kind. During the Gold Rush, this hotel became a stopping point for families who were continuing on with their voyage into the mountains. Friday Evening:
You're probably "hangry" at this point because you haven't eaten since before your plane ride and want something delicious to eat. If you enjoy eating authentic Mexican food, La Loma is the place to go. They have amazing margaritas, fresh guacamole and a wide variety of meals to choose from. The restaurants aesthetic is very cozy and welcoming. Make your reservations here!
Friday Night:
If you're ready for some action, don't look any further than Coor's Field. Home of the Colorado Rockies since 1995, this field is state of the art. It offers a microbrewery, gift shop, merchandise store and even it's own restaurant located straight down the right field line. With an amazing view of the Rocky Mountains, the stadium is a wonderful place to capture breathtaking photos while watching an action-filled baseball game. Get your tickets here!
After the game, you're not ready to go bed quite yet. You still need to check out all of the sophisticated breweries around town. You and your friends want to check out what they have to offer. Alternation Brewing Company is the place to be. It is a brand new three-barrel brewery on South Broadway that is a must see. It has a friendly, neighborhood vibe and is a nice place to unwind with friends. They have a diverse variety of different beers with alternating taps and a very friendly staff that is willing to answer any questions about what might like to drink. Cheers!
Saturday Morning:
Whew! You slept in because yesterday was a very. long. day. You are ready for some brunch! Gather your friends and stroll on down to Denver Biscuit Company. They are known for their mouthwatering biscuits and delicious breakfast sandwiches. It started out as a Biscuit Bus, then part of a bar called "The Atomic Cowboy" and soon enough it hit the ground running and became what it is today. There is something so extraordinary about this restaurant and you cannot miss out!
One thing that runs through the center of the city is Denver's 16th Street Mall. A strip that goes from one end to the other, this allows you to literally shop until you drop, but don't worry you don't have to carry all of your shopping bags all the way down the street, there are free mall rides that take you up and down the street with multiple stops, so you can get out at whichever store you'd like. Saturday Afternoon:
There is no way that you have seen it all. Denver has so much to offer and a lot of it is within the museums! Built in 1925 and located in the Civic Center, the Denver Art Museum is one of the largest museums in the West and is known for their pieces made from all different cultures, especially the American Indian Culture. A general admission pass is only $13 for adults, $10 for college students and all children up to the age of 18 are free! It is a nice place to learn about all of the different artifacts the DAM has to offer! Check out this site for more information!
If you're not quite finished with learning about the city of Denver, look no further than the gorgeous Capitol Building, this is a must see. The architecture is unreal and the decor is to die for!! It is such a neat place to walk around and absorb the sweet history of Denver in a little under an hour. There are also guided tours available which allows you to visit each room and learn information and listen to stories about Denver's Capitol Building. Saturday Evening:
Dinnertime!! All of that learning and walking today was really exhausting and you are ready for an appetizing meal. Shanahan's Steakhouse is one of the best restaurants Denver has to offer. Get dressed to the nines and get ready for a special night. The service is top notch and the feel is nothing but warm, classy and professional. Now that you've eaten a good meal, it's time to take a 30 minute drive just West of Denver to the gorgeous Red Rock's Amphitheater for a spectacular night of singing and dancing with your friends. This beautiful amphitheater is a bucket-list kind of thing and you don't want to miss out. Artists from Stevie Nicks to Dave Matthew's Band have performed here and the visuals and acoustics are out of this world!! Make sure to check this out this beauty and book your tickets upon arrival.
Sunday morning:
It's an early morning because you have a flight to catch, but you are so hungry and want to eat a nice, filling breakfast. Snooze is the place to go. Created in 2006 by two brothers who have created a lively atmosphere and have made it their goal to make sure you enjoy every bite are ready to take care of you. One percent of each sale goes back to the community and helps with food and services. Not only are you eating a yummy breakfast, you're also helping the community while doing so! Be sure to get there quickly because it is first come first serve.
Finally, the last stop before you leave. You are wanting to see one more thing before your flight out of here and a take advantage of a few more photo ops for your Instagram story. Look no further than the Denver Botanic Gardens. The DBG is a botanical garden located in Cheesman Park. This garden offers a conservatory, variety of themed gardens and an amphitheater which hosts concerts throughout the summer. This garden is full of beautiful plants and foliage that you have never seen before. Make sure to stop by while you've still got the chance!
